Artist Development - Tinie Tempah

Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu Jr, most commonly known as Tinie Tempah is a UK grime, hip hop and electro sensation who has been in the "music game" for nearly 5 years but has only recently become a famous household name.

In 2006, he released his first music video for his song "Wifey" and it became an underground hit holding the "Channel U" Urban Chart top spot for 10 consecutive weeks.

The music video is very amateur and looks like a video for an artist who is trying to make it big in the music industry.

His next video was for his song "Hood Economics"

This video is of much better quality and looks more professionally made with effects such as having clones of the artist as well as using actual locations (Walthamstow dog racing track).
It is easy to see that at this time, Tinie Tempah was becoming a bit more famous and established in the underground UK music industry.

In 2008, he released the video for "Tears". This video is definately a professional video but out of all his songs, it missed the "epic" feel and therefore did not become very popular

Tinie Tempah then disappeared for two years and signed to Parlophone records in late 2009. He came back into the public eye with a BANG and released the video for his single "Pass Out"

The song and the video were an instant hit and Tinie Tempah went from underground artist to mainstram sensation. It is the debut single from his soon to come album "Disc-Overy". The video on Parlophone's official Youtube channel has had over 11,500,00 views since it was uploaded on 23rd December 2009.

Since then, he has released two more music videos for other singles on his album "Frisky" and "Written in the Stars"

These videos have established Tinie Tempah as a mainstream artist with a new style that appeals to a wider audience. This is a perfect example of how the music video changes depending on how established the artist is.
